Swan Song

A picture is worth a thousand words,"...Calgon take me away..." And this gorgeous creature was spotted along with her mate and 4 youngsters during some mommy down time. She was observed for several minutes calmly preening and later feeding while her precocious young were into all sorts of entertaining antics.

Happy Birthday

This honorable Memorial Day weekend holds a different anniversary for remembrance, it is year 2 without our little Smudge. A beautiful Carin terrier with a lively affection for babies, holidays(especially Halloween), rides in the car, and long social walks.
Smudgey's birthday was also this weekend and in her memory I'll go for a long walk, take a nap, and lick my plate.

Good Girl.

Memorial Reflections

In honor of all our dedicated service men and women, thank you for your sacrifices and courage.

May all of us remember these brave men and women this Memorial Day weekend as we celebrate with our families at cookouts or enjoy just a peaceful sunset.

Poppy Love

My affection for the perennial spring poppy is the inspiration behind these three digital floral portraits. An impulse buy from my local garden & building supply store, my muse was calling," sketch, photograph, collage, write, and hopefully plant me."

Scales

Today was a day to create and share my most recent digital composition, Scales. I was in the mood to explore patterns and my muse was a viola flower petal. These Johnny Jump-Ups grow wild in my spring garden and I love their form and details. I really like the 2 individual pieces but I may create a couple more for a grouping; which would be very cool.

Fixer Upper

This intriguing house was the object of my latest creative editing and artistic "fixer upper". Taken awhile ago on one of my photo trips, I rediscovered it in my photo gallery. Overlooked as in life, this little house seemed to be begging for a little attention. I do recall there were wild flowering yellow forsythia emerging  from piles of leaves and debris. You can barely pick out the flowers on the right. To duplicate the golden blossoms while creating some drama I incorporated a textured layer that draws the eye to the light. I like the idea that even in darkness a light, a flower, will find its way to comfort you.

A Secret Place

This site is within a short distance from my home. As you can tell the marsh and its ever changing beauty is featured in several of my photos. I particularly love the raw natural wilderness of the marsh and its allure keeps me coming back for more.
The original shot incorporated more foreground which I was visually struck by its lyrical movement. However, I chose to crop and add a textured layer to draw you through the grasses to the "secret place." I love how the home is mysteriously illuminated by an equally active sky.
